In between the latest otherworldly commission from one of its affluent ‘patrons,’ the ultra-luxury British automaker sitting under the tutelage of Germany’s BMW AG has found time to play with the prototypes for the Rolls-Royce Cullinan update we are expecting sometime next year and also started initial deliveries of its first-ever all-electric vehicle.
A successor of the Rolls-Royce Wraith grand tourer, the Spectre follows up in terms of design while turning a completely different page at the powertrain chapter. It’s not all roses as the revealed EPA rating is below that of cars that are more than ten times cheaper – ‘standard’ builds can go as far as 291 miles (468 km) on a single charge, while the mighty Black Badge can only do 264 miles (425 km).
However, the aftermarket realm doesn’t care about things like that, and the first custom Spectre units appeared before the US agency even posted its results. As such, we fully expect that owners will calmly say they drive far less anyway and happily drop the keys at the counter of their outlet of choice for some additional personalization.
Of course, with everyone trying to stand out in a crowd, it’s going to be hard to find ideas that haven’t been tried before. Well, the imaginative realm of digital car content creators is once again ready to lend a helping hand – or CGI brush stroke, to be more precise.
For example, Ildar, the virtual artist better known as ildar_project on social media, usually plays with tuned vehicles – so is anyone surprised by this ghoulish Spectre? Owing to the model’s spooky name, the pixel master naturally accentuated the ‘come to the Dark Side’ (we have cookies) vibe and thought about imagining an excellent body kit that’s simple yet resounding at the same time.
Because this is a Rolls-Royce, nothing can be ritzy enough for it, hence the option to make the entire body kit – including the lengthy hood – out of forged carbon fiber! That works amazingly well both on the all-black Spectre design project and the blue one, which emphasizes all the changes (including the much larger aftermarket wheels) through the power of contrasts.
Well, it will probably be only a matter of time before some intrepid aftermarket outlet thinks this is the right way to treat an ultra-luxury EV from Rolls-Royce. Now, who wants to see this Rolls-Royce Spectre not only riding lowered on aftermarket wheels and drenched in forged carbon fiber but also sporting a full widebody aerodynamic kit? Come on, let’s petition the artist to imagine that, too – maybe Mansory will see it and adopt the idea!
